As a designer raised in a Western society with a Sri Lankan heritage, Nethmi has grown up with an appreciation for the traditional art and cultures of her home country.

Nethmi believes that beauty in design lies in the authentic, and it is imperative to her that she pays homage to her heritage by identifying traditional Sri Lankan artisans and their crafts in her garments.

Nethmi hopes to reduce the impact of fast fashion by having more of a slow fashion approach. By designing unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, the garments will be appreciated by a client and more likely to last longer.

Nethmi is a fashion and textiles designer in Sydney, Australia, a graduate of Fashion and Textiles Design (Honours) at the University of Technology Sydney.

Nethmi has always enjoying documenting her food adventures both locally and internationally via Instagram. However, having an extended period at home during lockdown allowed Nethmi to delve deeper into her love for food. Starting with simple home cooked meals for her family, Nethmi began building confidence in her own cooking and baking skills.

A chance conversation with a friend, and the Tastes of Travel collaboration was born. Featuring a walk down memory lane with a “postcard” recreation of some of their favourite food adventures in NYC during a trip in Jan 2018.

More recently, Nethmi has begun developing her baking and cake decorating skill. A gallery of her latest creations can be found in the the food section of the website.
